Ayurveda – the word that stems from two Sanskrit words, Ayus (life) and Veda (science), means the science of life. It is an ancient science of healing that originated from the Indian sub-continent. Historical records indicate that Ayurveda originated in India more than 5,000 years ago, and has ever since influenced the mankind.

As per Ayurvedic wisdom, all human beings are a part of nature. Human beings and nature are interdependent and a perfect balance between these energies would result into good health. Ayurveda has the prowess to heal ailments, whether chronic or generic, with a mix of natural herbs. It can cure the imbalance of mind, body and soul, created by external factors like, weather, life, work, stress etc.

Event today, Ayurveda remains the most ancient, yet living tradition with sound philosophical and experimental basis. It is a science with a holistic approach to health and personalized medicine. Known to be a complete medical system that encompasses the physical, psychological, philosophical, ethical, and spiritual health – Ayurveda is considered to be inherently an essential expression of pure intelligence and hence called a self-healing science.

Ayurveda is concerned with restoring the balance of three elements or factors – Vata, Pitta and Kapha (Air, Fire and Water) of which the body is made.

All living creatures are composed of five basic elements and the same give a material form to body called ‘Pancha Mahabhutas’. In the same manner the herbal drugs are also composed of the same basic elements. Therefore, Ayurvedic medicines are more acceptable and compatible to human beings for permanent cure.

Nature’s herbs are comparable to miracles of Ayurvedic science. Herbs form the basis of Ayurvedic treatment and are manually processed in varied ways. From over 15,000 herbs found in nature, only around 850 are commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine today. A lot is still to be discovered.
